Musical Theatre brings together song and scene, dance, and staging to create a whole new level of artistry and entertainment. Practising musical theatre creates well-rounded performers who are able to integrate their skills and express themselves more wholly.
Our workshop curriculum covers all aspects of musical theatre, enhancing students’ singing, dancing, and acting skills.
We currently offer musical theatre for the following age groups: those in years 3-6, and years 7-12.
For younger students in kindy to year 2, we offer a Beginners Dance and Drama class as an introduction to the art.
Beginners Dance & Drama
Kindy – Year 2
A safe space for curious minds to be introduced to the world of musical theatre. We will explore drama and dance exercises and learn a few combinations to be showcased at the end of the term. A great opportunity to improve confidence, and nurture the natural performer in everyone.
Musical Theatre Intermediate
Year 3-6
This class introduces students to script and song work and how they can be effectively combined to create a musical scene. We will explore the three core elements of musical theatre; singing, dance and drama. There will also be a specific focus on musical theatre vocal training and drama and dance work from famous musicals to be showcased at the end of the term. Through this class students can build their performance skills and gain a deeper understanding of musical theatre techniques and repertoire.
Musical Theatre Seniors
Year 7-12
This class extends students’ knowledge of the inner workings of musical theatre. This will include specific vocal training helping students to expand their range, techniques, and repertoire, whilst keeping their voices healthy through technical and specified practice. There will also be a greater focus on pair and ensemble work, incorporating all the elements of a musical for a performance to be showcased at the end of term. Musical Theatre Seniors provides all the tools students need, whether they’re performing for fun, or with dreams of becoming a Broadway star!
